Jesse Louis Jackson. Being brought up so poorly didn't affect the way he had decided to be a successful in this country as well as a bright politician, and a Civil rights activist. To help the people of this country live a better life. Jesse Jackson is certainly worthy of being on Mt. Rushmore as an idol to the other people out there because without him some people wouldn't live the life they live now.
Born without a real father Jesse Louis Burns was given birth by his mother Helen Burns at the age of 16. Jesse’s biological father was Helens neighbor Noah Robinson, a 33-year-old married man, however never married Helen. Helen then married Charles Henry Jackson renaming Jesse as Jesse Jackson. As a kid Jackson had not had proper guidance nor had a proper place to live, growing up in the poor part of the town in Greenville South Carolina.
When Jackson left the S.C.L.C in 1971 he founded the organization P.U.S.H (People United to Serve Humanity), an organization expanding education, business and employment opportunities for the disadvantaged and people of different color. Later in 1984 Jackson founded the National Rainbow Coalition, a social justice organization devoted to political empowerment, education and changing public policy.
As Jackson began to be more popular into the world so had his political involvement starting since the late 1970 he began traveling around the world to mediate or spotlight problems or disputes. In 1979 he visited South Africa and spoke out against apartheid policies. In 1984 Jackson became the 2nd African American to make a run for national U.S Presidency he had garnered a total of 3.5 million votes however not stopping there Jackson had made a 2nd run for presidency surpassing 7 million votes and finishing 2nd in the Democratic primaries.
Why not King? He didn’t help they say. However King had only led and inspired the people of the country, King also had not did everything himself he needed a strong right hand man like Jackson, also once he had died there was no hope left for his followers. King had not been an important politician like Jackson changing things like this in every country. Without Jackson King may not have accomplished the things he is known for today. And most certainly Jesse Jackson deserves to be an important idol to this country.
